In the United States, everything can be dipped in ketchup, which has been the main condiment in American people's homes for more than a century ago.

According to a survey, 97% of American households have a bottle of ketchup in their kitchens. In the early 19th century, an American named James Meese published the first recipe to make ketchup from tomatoes.

People were fascinated by its delicacy, and ketchup was sold all over the United States in 1830. This kind of bright-coloured food began to become popular. Early ketchup had two flavours: bitter and salty. Then switch to ripe tomatoes and add more tomato pulp to give it a fresh taste.

Add more vinegar to make it sour, and double the sweetness without benzoic acid. The harmony of these flavours makes ketchup very delicious and popular.

But it wasn't until Heinz added ketchup to its products in 1872 that its standard status was established and production began to soar. At that time, their most famous product was Heinz ketchup.

The company has also worked with McDonald's for 40 years. So when eating fast food, French fries always appear with ketchup, and slowly French fries and ketchup are sold together.

How is ketchup made?

During the tomato harvest season, when all the tomatoes are simply clear and placed on the mesh assembly line, the impurities are removed by concussion, and the small tomatoes will move on to the next process, and then enter the real cleaning process.

When the cleaning process is completed, the workers will choose some not-so-good tomatoes, followed by jam, and all the tomatoes will be flattened and crushed.

After a variety of crushing mixing equipment, the machine will automatically filter out rough substances such as tomato skins and seeds, and in order to extend the shelf life and taste, sugar and food additives will be added and finally put into jars or bags to become ketchup in the hands of consumers.
