The M6 freeway is the longest freeway in the UK, with a total length of 226.7 miles.

The original M6 section was built in December 1958, and it was also the first freeway to open in the UK. As the M6 is a major part of the freeway network linking London and Glasgow, it is one of the busiest freeways in the UK.

The M6 starts at Junction 19 of the M1 freeway near Rugby, passes through Birmingham, Manchester, Preston, and Carlisle, terminates at Gretna in the Scottish Borders, and then connects with the A74(M) to Glasgow.

The M6 freeway starts at Junction 19 of the M1 freeway at Catthorpe and passes through Birmingham, Walsall, and Stafford, as well as the suburbs of Wolverhampton and Stoke-on-Trent.

The M6 then intersects with the M56 and M62 freeways near Warrington, connecting to Manchester and Liverpool. It then heads north to Preston and Lancaster, passes through Lancashire, Cumbria, the Lake District border, Carlisle, and finally up to Gretna.
