As we cruised along, we stopped at Steptoe Butte State Park. This park offers panoramic views of the Palouse region, and the sight from the top is a must-see! The park is open from sunrise to sunset, and entry is free, which makes it even more appealing for budget-conscious travelers. Don’t forget your camera—this place is a photographer's dream!
Perkins House – A Glimpse Into the Past
We also made a stop at the historic Perkins House, located in Colfax. Built in 1886, this beautifully preserved house offers a peek into the life of early settlers in the area. During our tour, we learned fascinating stories about the Perkins family and their contributions to the town. The house is open from May to October, Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The ticket price is a very reasonable $5 per person, which makes it an affordable cultural experience.
